Fares is managing the IT infrastructure group at QCRI.
Fares came to QCRI from IBM US where he was a lead IT transition and integration architect focused on designing and leading the transition of government and financial institutions from a legacy computing model to a private cloud/virtualized environment. He also worked in IBM Canada for 7 years as an architect of Managed Shared Services within the strategic outsourcing organization.
Prior to his employment with IBM, Fares worked as a senior platform architect with Qatar Foundation for 3 years, leading efforts to virtualize 70% of Qatar Foundation’s shared compute environment.
Fares received his Bachelor’s degree from York University, and is in the process of completing a Master’s in Computer Science from the University of Illinois.
